Ozark Mountain Bank

NEWS RELEASE

2/16/2009

Ozark Mountain Bank Will Present Check to Red Cross

Springfield, MOOn Wednesday, February 17th, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., the president of Ozark Mountain Bank in Branson, Craig Richards, will present a check for about $2000 to Greg James, Director of Financial Development, for the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Proceeds from the check will benefit Haiti Relief.

The money was raised by having two employee casual days during the month of January where they could pay a minimum of $3 to wear jeans and tennis shoes for the day.  The bank then matched two times that amount.  In addition, they had collection boxes out in their lobby facilities for customers to donate as well.

Since the January 2010 Haiti earthquake, the American Red Cross has received unprecedented support from compassionate individuals, corporations and foundations throughout the United States.  More than 100 people are representing the Red Cross in Haiti.  There are 30 specialists who are responding through activities like relief distribution and telecommunications support.  Fourteen employees, who were permanently based in Haiti prior to the earthquake, are helping to guide the response.  More than 50 Creole-speaking interpreters are stationed offshore supporting a military hospital ship, the USNS Comfort.

Ozark Mountain Bank is a full service financial institution with six facilities in Stone and Taney Counties.  Started in 1950, it has built relationships through the years by helping its customers with their financial issues and in return they have made it the strong community bank it is today with nearly $300 million in assets. For the past 60 years, Ozark Mountain Bank has built on strong roots and endless possibilities.

Update from Miami

David Sewell, Disaster Response Volunteer from Lebanon, MO, sends the following update from his assignment to Miami in support of the Red Cross Relief Efforts in Haiti:

This is an informal brief description of what the Red Cross is doing in the relief operation in Miami. I only see a portion of the entire operation. I personally address the technology needs of the Red Cross volunteers and staff here in Miami and in Broward County, FL.

The operation here in Miami has a focus of supporting the emergency needs (food, temporary shelter) of American citizens repatriating (returning) to the US or Haitian citizens that might be eligible for citizenship based on having a spouse or other eligible family already here in the US.

Additionally, we are supporting the emergency needs of Haitian adoptees being brought in by plane from Haiti.

We do not get involved in any legal issues (immigration, etc) faced by those coming here from Haiti. The Red Cross provides the same strong and enduring support following a disaster that it has provided for so many years. The Red Cross continues to provide partnerships with various supportive community organizations to make sure the emergency needs of those affected by the Haitian disaster are met as completely as possible.
