Red Cross Distributes Recovery and Clean-up Supplies

The American Red Cross continues to distribute essential basic clean-up, health and sanitation items to the community. These included tools such as rakes, shovels, buckets, dust masks, work gloves, tarps, garbage bags, batteries, Rubber Maid totes, toiletries and diapers. In addition, Red Cross is providing rain ponchos, coolers, sun screen, hand sanitizer, water, juice and snacks. So far, the Red Cross had distributed more than 77,000 items to people who were affected by the recent tornado in the Joplin area.

The Red Cross will continue to distribute these items at Emergency Aid Stations located at the Duquesne Elementary School, Joplin High School and St. John’s Hospital. Mobile Red Cross vehicles will also continue to travel throughout the affected area for all those in the clean-up and recovery process.

                                                                                                             June-Water Safety

Swimming is the most popular summer activity. Staying safe around water is more than staying near the lifeguard at the pool. Every year many children drown in residential swimming pools, bath tubs, buckets of water and other containers of water. Anywhere there is water there is risk for drowning. Do not leave a young child unattended near any source of water, not even for a moment.  For more information go to www.redcross.org
