Red Cross Responds to Lakeshore Apartment Fire

American Red Cross; Southern Missouri Region 6/18/12

The American Red Cross continues to provide for the emergency needs of individuals affected by the Lakeshore Apartment fire that happened yesterday evening in Springfield, MO. The Emergency Response vehicle was on scene at about 6:45 with an abundant supply of water for the residents and firefighters.

7 Red Cross Volunteers responded and were able to quickly open 8 cases for 14 people to provide emergency relief. The people in the affected units will be provided a place to stay, money for clothes, food and medicines. Along with providing casework for the residents in a quick and efficient time frame, a Red Cross mental health volunteer was also immediately on scene to comfort and provide mental support to those in need.

An additional case was opened after midnight when a resident returned home from out of town to discover that he had also lost everything in the fire. He contacted the Red Cross and is being provided with emergency assistance, making the total number of people affected 15.
